School Bus Safety

In addition to following traffic laws, motorists should pay attention to school buses picking up and dropping students off and school-crossing zones.

School buses stop frequently and in many states, there are specific school bus safety laws that help protect children.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recommends the following school bus safety tips:

  • Do not speed
  • Do not try to pass a bus
  • Do not turn in front of a bus
  • Do not cut school buses off
  • Be wary of children boarding or getting of a bus

These tips are designed to protect children and it is the responsibility of all drivers to follow the rules of the road and drive in a safe manner. Negligent drivers compromise everyone’s safety.
