A postal worker was awarded $1 million for injuries she sustained during a dog attack. In April 2011, the woman was delivering mail to a former NASCAR driver’s home when she had a package that was too large for the mailbox outside of the race car driver’s gate. She drove through the gate to deliver the package and encountered the homeowners’ 5 dogs that attacked her.
The race car driver and his wife called 911 and the postal worker was treated at a local hospital. Various media outlets have reported that the women suffered nerve damage from the injuries. She also lost thousands of dollars in lost wages because her time out from work.
The woman claimed that race car driver and his wife were negligent for allowing the dogs to run loose on their property. The homeowners never filed an answer to the lawsuit and did not appear in court yesterday.
